Aloha and Welcome to Maui

One of the first questions visitors ask when calling or visiting the synagogue is, "What affiliation is the congregation?" The answer to that is that the Jewish Congregation of Maui is a non-affiliated congregation. Inevitably, the next question is, "What does that mean?" It means that we make great efforts to remain accessible and approachable to everyone whether Reform, Conservative, Orthodox, Reconstructionist, Renewal, or anything else. We welcome all Jews and their families of every affiliation and do our best to make sure everyone is comfortable and everyone feels at home.

We welcome visitors to all of our events, educational classes, and services including our Community Passover Seder, High Holy Days services, and Chanukah Party. We can help you find kosher food and challot for Shabbat, arrange b'nei mitzvah celebrations and weddings, assist you in finding a place to stay and activities to enjoy on Maui, or help in the case of an emergency. Please connect with us and learn about our wonderful and unique community. We have so much to offer you!

Comments from Past Visitors

"It gladdened our hearts to find that in the heart of Maui our heritage thrives! . . . . . We return home, renewed in spirit and marvelling in the fact that Maui houses one of the best Jewish congregations anywhere." Herb & Binny Goldman - Vancouver, Canada

Keeping Kosher on Maui

The local grocery stores

The Jewish Congregation of Maui would be delighted to assist you in fulfilling all your kosher needs. Many of our local grocery stores, such as Star Markets, assist our community by shipping in kosher items such as frozen Kineret challah, Empire pizzas, Empire fried chicken, and so much more. Call us to find out who has what and where!

Fresh Baked Hawaiian Sweet Bread Challah

A continuous fundraiser for our synagogue's kiddish fund is the sale of our wonderful Hawaiian Sweet Bread Challah. Place your order by Thursday morning to pick up your fresh baked challah for Shabbat.

Chai Chickens

Twice a year, we make special orders to ship in kosher meat, cheeses, and other specialty items. Our synagogue usually has an extra surplus of Chai Chickens that we sell to congregants as well as visitors.

Catering

We have several people available to provide you with your kosher catering needs. These are people who are experienced and educated in kashrut, and will work under the supervision of our own Rabbi David Glickman. If you need to cater kosher meals, please contact us early enough to make the necessary arrangements.
